Quick Position Overview
The successful candidate will support SMC at a strategic level to provide vision and direction, determine future goals and plans for the Court’s Administrative Services, and develop a roadmap for making strategy actionable, ensuring effective processes and internal controls to monitor and drive performance. It will also oversee the Administrative Service Division functions, including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Security, Facilities, Risk Management, and Emergency Management Offices. This includes working closely with the Executive Branch Budget Office and finance/administrative leaders regarding financial management and oversight of the Court’s overall budget and coordinating annual budget proposals and presentations to City Council.
As a member of the SMC executive leadership team, this leader will provide direction, expertise, guidance, insights, and decision-making for the department’s initiatives and operations as a whole, ensuring collaborative leadership, cohesiveness, mutual accountability, and alignment with the organization’s overall mission, values, strategic plan, and goals.
This is a new position with oversight of several areas within the Municipal Court administration, and the selected candidate will want to prioritize assessing the new work unit, building an organizational structure, and establishing a work plan to guide and direct operations.
The Deputy Court Administrator – Administrative Services focuses on planning, identifying, and coordinating Administrative operations to support the various business lines in Seattle Municipal Court. The position works closely with the Court’s executive team, particularly the Court’s Deputy Court Administrator – Operations (formerly known as External Service Delivery) Executive, to proactively support the Court in managing, continuously improving, and growing its capabilities.
